Why Analyse Food

The chemical analysis of food products enables Local Governments to further enhance food safety and food quality for the benefit of the Western Australia community: The LHAAC Sampling Scheme aims to:

• Help ensure the safety of foods in Western Australia;
• Help ensure compliance with the Food Standards Code as defined by Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ).
• Respond to complaints by members of the public and industry.

Where a food complaint progresses to a possible legal action, Local Governments (via LHAAC) may also request that the appointed Analyst appear as an expert witness in prosecution cases involving contaminated or unsafe foods in our community.
